Chapter Nine

This wasn’t happening. This couldn’t be happening. Theo was pulled out of Lucius’s arms and brought back over to that ring that was sticking out of the mats on the floor. He was pulled out of his warm blankets and left to shiver in the cold air of the basement, wearing only a pair of cotton black pajama bottoms, and then his injured wrist was grabbed and roughly yanked up so that the shackles could be put into place.

Theo yelled out in pain at that, but the alpha just looked down at him with a pitying expression on his face.

Theo snarled at the man. If this guy thought of Lucius as his alpha then the least he could do was not be so damned rough with Theo.

Christ, Theo was still wrapping his mind around the fact that Lucius had agreed to the terms that Edvard had given. He supposed they were better terms to agree to. Theo wouldn’t be forced to be Nero’s mate if Lucius lost the fight. He wouldn’t even be physically hurt, which was what Nero clearly wanted to do to him.

But he would have to let Nero have sex with him. For a whole hour.

No. Fuck that. If Lucius lost then Theo wasn’t going to go down without a fight. He didn’t care what the rules were. Edvard had said that Nero didn’t get to hurt Theo. He didn’t say that Theo couldn’t fight back.

And he would. Until that hour was up and he would go back to Lucius, Theo was going to fight like his life depended on it.

The bell rang, and the two alphas lunged at each other.

Neither of them shifted this time. Maybe Nero figured that fighting on three legs wouldn’t be so great, but since Theo knew almost nothing about strategy fighting, he figured it was best to just watch and see the outcome.

Even though they weren’t in their wolf forms, this fight was about ten times more intense than the first fight had been, and it was almost too much for Theo to watch as both men threw punches at each other.

Nero favored his uninjured arm, but he was still using it to occasionally throw out fake punches that Lucius would react to, just to get him with a cheap shot using his uninjured arm.

Even Theo had to admit that it was a pretty interesting tactic, though he still hated the man’s guts for what he was doing. It seemed that Nero wasn’t very creative or able to adapt all that well because he kept on using the move until Lucius became wise to it and grabbed onto Nero’s injured arm the next time he swung out with it.

Nero shrieked, the type of sound one made when there were no words to voice the extremity of their pain, as Lucius’s claws came out and dug deep on his arm.

Nero fell to his knees as he viscously tried to get his arm out of Lucius’s grasp, but by then it was already too late for him.
